儿童英语故事1

My two sisters and I were all away at various(不同的) colleges at the same time.

我和两个妹妹同时离开家去不同的大学读书。

One day, after facing too many crises(危机) and tired of being treated the same as other college students, I phoned home for some consolation and understanding of my unique problems.

经历了太多的危机，也厌倦了受到与其他大学生相同的对待之后，有一天我给家里打了个电话，就我独有的问题寻求安慰和理解。

When my dad answered, I immediately launched(开始) into my litany of frustrations(挫折) with college life.

当我爸爸接起电话后，我立刻开始历数我大学生活中的挫折。

As I paused(停止) to catch my breath, he said: "OK, honey...now, first of all, who is that?"

A horse and an ass were traveling together.

马和驴一起旅行。

The horse was prancing along in its beautiful trappings(马饰), but the ass was carrying the heavy weight in its saddlebags.

"I wish I were you." sighed(叹气) the ass:"You have nothing to do but wear such a beautiful harness."

The next day there was a great battle(战役).

次日爆发了一场大战。

The horse was badly wounded(受伤的) in the final charge.

The ass passed and saw the dying horse. "I was wrong." said the ass:"Safety(安全) is much more important than beautiful clothes."

An eagle(鹰) was flying in the sky. As soon as it saw a rabbit, it swooped(俯冲) down on its prey.

Suddenly it was hit by an arrow.

It fluttered(扇动) slowly down to the earth, and blood was pouring from the wound.

When the eagle looked down and it saw that the tail of the arrow was made of one of his own feathers(羽毛).

“Alas!” it cried:“We often give our enemies the means to destroy(毁灭) ourselves.”

“唉!”它痛苦地叫道：“我们总是给敌人提供毁灭我们自己的工具。”

A bird was confined(关押) in a cage outside a window.

She often sang at night when other birds were asleep.

The bat replied:"But it is useless to do this now that you have become aprisoner(囚犯)." Then he flew away.

When Hercules was walking in the forest, he saw a ball(球) lying on the ground.

赫尔克里斯在森林里漫步时，他看到前面有个球。

He kicked(踢) it because it blocked his way.

因为球挡住了路，他就一脚把球踢开了。

To his surprise, the ball did not roll away, but grew much bigger than before. So he kicked it again much harder.

令他惊讶的是，球不但没有滚开，反而越来越大，于是他更用力地踢它。

The harder he kicked, the bigger the ball grew.

他越用力地踢，球变得越大。

At last it completely(完全地) filled up the road.

后来球竟将路完全堵住了。

Then, Athena appeared(出现).

这时，雅典娜出现了。

"Stop, Hercules." she said:"Stop kicking. The ball’s name is Strife(冲突). Leave it alone and it will soon become small again."

“停下来，赫尔克里斯。”她说：“不要再踢了，这个球叫冲突。不去管它，它很快就变小了。”
